This Privacy Policy describes how Jemo's Kitchen ("Platform," "Website," "App," "Service," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information about you when you use our website, mobile applications, and related services. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

a. Account Information. When you register an account, we collect your name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), and any profile details you choose to provide. If you sign in through a third-party provider (such as Google or Apple), we receive the basic profile information that provider shares with us in accordance with the permissions you grant.

b. Content You Submit. Recipes, ingredients, directions, notes, meal plans, grocery and pantry items, ratings, photographs, and any other content you create or upload to the Platform.

c. AI Import Inputs. When you use AI-powered recipe import, the text, URL, or images you submit are processed by our AI provider to extract structured recipe data. We do not use these inputs to train external models.

d. Subscription and Billing Information. If you purchase a subscription, we and our payment processors collect billing details necessary to process the transaction. We do not store full payment-card numbers on our own servers.

e. Device and Usage Information. IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, language preference, referring URLs, pages viewed, features used, and approximate location derived from your IP address.

f. Cookies and Similar Technologies. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Platform is used.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use information about you to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate sign-ins.
  • Provide, maintain, and improve the features of the Platform.
  • Store, sync, and display the recipes, meal plans, and other content you create.
  • Process AI-assisted recipe extraction from text, URLs, or images.
  • Process subscriptions, payments, and refunds.
  • Send transactional emails (account, billing, and security notices).
  • Send service-related communications you have not unsubscribed from.
  • Monitor and protect the security and integrity of the Platform.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use.

Where applicable law (such as the GDPR) requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following: performance of a contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Platform, and compliance with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers. Third-party vendors that help us operate the Platform, including hosting and database providers, image and file storage providers (DigitalOcean Spaces), authentication providers, email delivery services, payment processors, and AI providers (such as OpenAI for recipe extraction). These vendors are permitted to use your information only as needed to provide their services to us.
  • At Your Direction. When you choose to share a recipe or other content publicly or with a specific person, the content you select becomes accessible to those recipients.
  • Legal Compliance and Protection. When required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, the safety of others, or to investigate fraud.
  • Business Transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account data and content are stored in managed databases. Images and other media you upload are stored in cloud object storage (DigitalOcean Spaces). Passwords are stored as salted one-way hashes. Connections to the Platform are encrypted in transit using TLS.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform to you. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required or permitted by law to retain it (for example, for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes). Backups containing your information may persist for a limited period after deletion before being overwritten.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Access the information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Export a copy of your content.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

The Platform is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from such children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under the applicable age without verified parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. 10. International Data Transfers

We operate in the United States, and the information we collect may be processed in the United States or in other countries where our service providers operate. This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute relating to this Policy shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida.
